As usual, a narcissist will never take responsibility for why you left—because that would mean admitting they weren’t as powerful as they believed. So instead, they rewrite the story.
They rewrite the history. They tell people, “You were crazy.” “She was unstable.” “I gave him everything and still he just walked away.”
They play the victim by twisting the truth to make it seem like you were the problem.
The worst part is: they believe their own lies. Self-gaslighting. The more a narcissist messes with your name, the more afraid they are of you. Deep down, they know exactly what they did.
And they know that if people saw the truth, they would lose face. That’s why they obsessively twist reality to protect their fragile ego—their false image. And you and I both know that is nothing but damage control in action.
5) They Hoover you with fake coincidences
Have you ever received a random text from them months after going no contact? Something like: “Hey, I just saw something that reminded me of you.” Or, “Typical—hope you’re doing well.” Or something cryptic that sounds so bizarre, like: “I’ve been thinking about reaching out for a while.”
But why isn’t this love? Why isn’t this remorse?
It’s a test.
They don’t miss you. They miss control. They want to see if they can still pull you back in. They do not want to make things right—they just want proof that they still matter to you. No matter what you did for them, it was never enough. They are a bottomless pit, and nothing will ever satisfy them.
And I’m saying this because you cannot respond to these “opportunities” as if they’re real. You have to see it as a confession from that narcissist. But what are they confessing? That they are weak—that they want to know your life status to feel in control of their life.
They cannot move forward. They’re stuck. They’re more dependent on you than you ever were on them—and they cannot admit it.
So they reach out randomly, acting like, “Yeah, I’m just casually checking to see what’s going on,” or, “Oh, by mistake, I sent a message to you that was supposed to go to somebody else.”
It’s a trick. It’s meant to pull you back into the trap—and torture you one more time.
6) They start to self-destruct
